11 Great Suggestions for Winter Dry Skin

[ad_1]

We need suggestions for winter dry skin! Thank you. 🙂

Change of seasons can be tough on skin.  Once that central heating goes on, it seems even worse than air conditioning for dry skin.

If you’re normal or dry, you will get even dryer, so adjust now before you’re feeling like a desert. Here are a few ideas to make it easier.

For Body:

  • Soap minimally –  Armpits and groin only, and for your face and neck use a creamy lotion cleanser (like the MadisonMD Active Cleanser, Eminence Lemon Cleanser, Dove for Sensitive Skin, or CeraVe). The first two have less chemicals which are better for you and better for the environment.
  • Use a good body lotion every day after bath or shower on your whole body –  Try the Eminence Mangosteen Body Lotion, the boutique Island Thyme organic moisturizers (online), or CeraVe. The first two have very few chemicals, if any. The CeraVe line, while popular and cheap, has a lot.
  • To help with sloughing the dry skin, try Paula’s Choice 2% BHA body lotion once or twice a week.
  • Try adding a “dry oil” to your lotion or using it straight sometimes. The Eminence Apricot Body Oil is lovely and has no chemicals.

For Face:

  • Consider moisturizing your face and neck more often or add an extra moisture-trapping layer under your regular moisturizer morning or night. Try the MadisonMD Niacinamide & Copper DeAging Serum which has a hyaluronic acid base, or a plain B5 serum under your rich winter moisturizer.
  • Try the MadisonMD Rich Night Repair Cream.
  • Think about getting a humidifier, if your in house humidity falls below 50-60%.
  • Try adding a “dry oil” to your lotion or using it straight sometimes. The Eminence Apricot body oil is lovely and has no chemicals.

If you’re oily normally:

Remember body skin tends to be dryer. You probably won’t need as much oil control, so see above, but also consider:

  • Switching to a less drying cleanser more for normal skin like the ones above.
  • Using your retinol or tretinoin 3-4 times a week instead of nightly.
  • Consider adding a moisturizer with a gel base that’s hydrating but not oily, like the a B5 gel or serum, or something very light, like the Madison MD Lightweight Daily Moisturizer with Growth Factors & Peptides
